Assessments Assessments are carried out in the child's own home or, with the permission of the school, in a quiet room on the school site. This ensures that the child is in a familiar and comfortable environment. Initially, a questionnaire is filled in which details the child's educational and developmental history. Following this are the assessments which can take 2-3 hours, depending on the age and attainment level of the child. The standardised tests used give a rounded picture of the strengths and challenges faced. The testing measures underlying ability, memory and processing speed and compares these attainments with the child's development of literacy skills. Tests used are likely to include:
Assessments to contribute towards an application for GCSE and A'level exam access arrangements using standardised tests can be carried out. Please be aware that the decision whether to apply to the JCQ for exam access arrangements rests with the school and must reflect the child's "normal way of working" (JCQ 2024).
