Qualified Dyslexia Assessor in Buckinghamshire
| Sharon
Carter. I completed a degree at Newcastle University followed by a PGCE in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs. I gained an MA and an MEd, focusing on working with pupils with a range of specific learning difficulties. I hold an Assessment Practicing Certificate: the gold standard. I am qualified to assess children for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) including Dyslexia. All dyslexia assessments are undertaken following the guidelines issued by the Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). I am an associate member of the British Dyslexia Association and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. I have over 25 years of experience in assessing and working with dyslexic pupils in education and have been a school SENCo for 20 of those years. Working in mainstream schools, as well as in specialist placement settings, I was selected by my local authority to develop specific resources for pupils with SEN across the UK. I have sat on a government advisory committee and, via Oxford Univeristy, have researched the development of literacy in pupils with dyslexia. |
